The Antwerp designer label Serax has acquired the West Flanders table designer, Colect. This makes the second acquisition in a year for the Antwerp company. Following the purchase of the Antwerp label, Clodette, van Veerle Dobbelaere and Karen Van Winkel, Serax can now also welcome the design label of the West Flanders businesswoman and designer, Katrien Van Hulle.
Colect has been promoting Belgian design since 1998. What began originally with selling Belgian designer furniture at the “B” Shop in Bruges, soon developed into the design and manufacture of its own line of high-quality designer furniture. Working with recognised designers such as Fabiaan Van Severen, Michiel Mertens, Philippe Vandermeulen and others, as well as the designs of business-owner Katrien Van Hulle, placed the West Flanders label well and truly on the design map.
Colect works with its team of experienced professionals and local production facilities at the workshop in Meulebeke to create and produce high-end designer furniture.
Axel Van den Bossche (Serax) comments on the acquisition: “Colect was looking for the next step. With its extensive know-how and international network, Serax provides the perfect setting for taking Colect’s existing ambitions to the next level. Yet it will do so at all times with respect for Colect’s existing creative and business values.”
